Ok people, three days to go until Spring Break. I'm ready. Are you? Let's recap on what needs to be done by the end of this week. Socials: Your final draft of your essay needs to be in on Friday. Chemistry Project: Art, info, backstory and poster all need to be done for Friday. Design Challenge: All parts up to and including Best Possible Solution are due on Friday for Mousie Design Challenge: Testing may get pushed to Thursday for Volley but that means that you will only have 24 hours to write the redesign (5-8 sentences). Remember you will also need to record and submit how many points your machine cost. Is there anything else I am missing? I was planning to try to finish Orphan Island before the break but there is an assignment that I think you will really like with this book and so, I would rather wait to finish it after the break and let you finish it then.

Hi Everybody, one week. We can do this :)
Math 7: There is a unit test on Tuesday. There will be some stuff on Mean, median and mode, outliers and range. There will also be some questions on probabilities. Science: The sheets on density are due on Monday. Make your predictions about which items are which and find out on Monday if you were right. Science: Superhero/villian information sheet is due on Friday but I would suggest that you have this ready to go by Monday as well because you will need that information to come up with your fun facts and it will help inform your backstory for the LA component of this project. LA: The back story part of the assignment is due Friday. Art: The drawing of your superhero or supervillian is due on Friday as well. Socials: 2nd draft of your essay is due on Tuesday. We may not be able to print at school. Make sure that you are figuring out a way to print at home or you may be able to ask a friend to print it for you. More exciting stuff to come for the week ahead! Math 7: Pg 292-293 Q. 1-6 is due tomorrow. There will be a unit test next Thursday.
Socials" Reminder that the first draft of your Socials essay is due on Friday. Science: Students were calculating the density of various mystery materials to collect quantitative data while at the same time making notes of their qualitative observations. This will be part of a larger Science that we will be working on. See some hardworking students below. Orphan Island: After reading the letter that Abigail had written to her mother, Jinny is clearly confused and a little upset. In at least 3 sentences for each question, provide your answers to Jinny's questions: Question 1: “And why had Abigail—Abbie—if she had a mother alive, been sent to the island in the first place?” Excerpt From: Laurel Snyder. “Orphan Island.” iBooks. Question 2: “For some reason, gazing at all the matched pairs of shoes, Jinny began to count them. One. Two. Three pairs. Jinny counted them all. Forty pairs. Eighty shoes, each with a match. Not a single one missing in all those years. And now that she was looking at them, she noticed that only a few pairs were larger than the others, like the slipper on her foot—but only a few. Why was that?” Excerpt From: Laurel Snyder. “Orphan Island.” iBooks. Math 7: Students handed in their projects. What will happen with the height of their inquiry and the size of their insights? Ms. Friesen and I look forward to finding out. Design Challenge: Mousey - you will need to have all research, possible solutions and best possible solution completed for March 15th. You can download the criteria sheet down below. Design Challenge: Volley-what? Why? - bring in materials for building on Tuesday. You will have some time to discuss with your group on Monday. Socials: Essay on which Empire made the better adaptations will be due on Friday, March 15th. First drafts will be due March 8th.
