In the News: we had a good conversation today about the horrible events that have been going on the in the United States in the past week. We covered topics and broadened our definitions of terrorism and hate crimes.
Bionic: Mira continues to adapt to life with her prosthetics and chip implant....and, what is going on with Niles? Math 7: There is no homework. We are continuing to explore operations with integers. Art: Many students are wrapping up their Grid Art and the work is fantastic. Design Challenge: Students received some preliminary feedback on their design challenges and will begin building on Thursday. Socials: Homework Alert - students need to complete the worksheet that went along with the handout today. Science: students worked in their groups on their projects. Remember students, projects should be informative, dynamic and interactive. If you aren't sure what I mean about this, please come and see me to make sure you are on the mark. Bionic Question: Mira seems to be falling for Niles, yet never thought of him this way before. Why do you think that she is beginning to have feelings for him?

The only thing you need to post is your response to the question in socials. Since you need the sheet to answer the question, I don't need to post the question :)
Stretch: Two groups did excellent work this morning. We are all so much more limber!
Math 7: We have started a new unit on integers. Concepts of negative integers, positive integers, zero pairs, adding and subtracting integers and maybe even some multiplication and division with integers. LA/Coding: Our guest, Mr. Clarke, was in today to demonstrate some intro to coding with Scratch and we will be working towards creating a story using this platform with the idea of having it provide the framework for a longer story they will be writing. Haunted House: Have a great time at the Haunted House tonight. Wish I could be there. No homework; no question today. Bionic: we read a bit about Mira doing well in competitions and becoming a bit of a celebrity.
Math 7: students wrote their unit test. We should have it back to them in the next day or two. Art: grid art is almost done for some. Very excited about our next project. Science: we official launched our new project. Ask your child about it. Question: will Mira become conceited from her success and ruin some friendships? Stretch: Great class today on stretching done by a couple of our students today.
Math 7: Students worked to prepare for their Math test tomorrow. I will be available tomorrow before school to work with them. Art: Some students are getting very close to finishing their Grid Art project. LA: students finished up the last of the first round of presentations. I have given all of them feedback and be asking them to add something. Socials: We finished reading a sheet about the history of writing and students have a worksheet to complete on reading and interpreting a label. Question: Name one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (bonus to people who come up with new ones rather than copying previous ones). Yay. Only some Math homework to worry about and a unit test for the grade 7s on Wednesday. Start studying this weekend. Remember, a little work now will save you cramming the night before.
Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful day in the sun today. I was at the school working away. Monday is a big assembly for the Downie-Wenjack Foundation. If you don't know about it yet, click here. Carisbrooke has been fortunate enough to be selected to be one of a few schools on the North Shore to take part in this legacy project. On Monday, as part of the assembly, we are asking that all students make their best effort to wear orange. Question is easy for the weekend. Who is your favourite fictional character and what colour do you have to wear on Monday? Have a great weekend and if you see that someone hasn't posted to answer the question, call, text, email, or Snap them. First three people to post get a prize. GO! Stretch 1: We had a great stretch class in the morning lead by two excellent presenters. Math 7: There will be a unit test next Wednesday. Homework pg. 36-37 q. 1-8. Art: seems some images below of the work in progress. We had a great time doing our thought experiment on the Prisoner's Dilemma this afternoon. Ask your children about it. Sorry for the lateness of the post. The draft didn't save at the school :( FSAs: Grade 7s are all done with the FSAs. Finally we can get back on track with Math and our other subjects.
Art: Students are starting to do some great work with their grid art. I will share some pictures tomorrow. Socials: We did a quiz in socials today and I am excited to see how students have done. Core Competencies: Ask your child about "More Cowbell" and all of the communication that is happening in it. Presentations: We are trying to get through the last few presentations that students have done. Question: Two members of a criminal gang are arrested and imprisoned. Each prisoner is in solitary confinement with no means of communicating with the other. The prosecutors lack sufficient evidence to convict the pair on the principal charge, but they have enough to convict both on a lesser charge. Simultaneously, the prosecutors offer each prisoner a bargain. Each prisoner is given the opportunity either to betray the other by testifying that the other committed the crime, or to cooperate with the other by remaining silent. The offer is:
Don't post your answer below. Only post your favourite colour so I know you have read it. Health: today's stretch on the back was really well done and students were struggling with some of the exercises, which made me feel not so old.
Math 7: graphing linear relations. Pg. 33-34 Q. 3,4,5,7 LA: students are converting their storyboards into brief statements about each pane. Socials: we went over some of the material that will be on the quiz tomorrow as review. LA: students are creating storyboards of the stories they will be creating based on their parks. Eventually, they will be both writing these stories and producing them in Scratch, a coding tool.
Socials: there will be a quiz on Tuesday. This will be a small quiz so don't get all panicked. I just want to see how you are all doing. Students worked on their grid art as well today, had PE and French with Ms. Mitchell. Grade 7s were in a meeting during Math and grade 6s had Math as usual. Have a great weekend! |
