Language Arts: rough drafts were supposed to be ready for today. EVERYONE must have a rough draft printed out for Monday. If you already had one, you can use that one on Monday or if you have made changes, you can reprint. I will give you some time to do that on Monday. Math: We are continuing to explore integers. Question: what's the difference between noise and music?
Math: test was completed today. Science: we reviewed concepts of natural selection and adaptation. Careers: students are continuing to work on their political party posters. Elections wrap up: We had some great discussions today about the results and the implications of the results and developed a final assignment of developing each person's own political party poster. This assignment will be due on Tuesday, November 5th and will need to be done mostly on students own time as they will only receive limited time in class to complete this. Rats of NYMH: we rad another chapter and go into some of the issues regarding the sexism that was pervasive at the time and that is apparent in the novel.

Card Project Art: was sent out today. Careers: Students are developing their projects in groups that will be presented next Thursday. Science: students handed in their rough copies of their graphs and will get them back tomorrow. Good copy of the graph and questions will be due on Tuesday, October 22nd Question: Is the meaning of life the same for animals and humans? Careers: Students are working on group presentations of the party platforms.

You will need to present: - the party (name, logo, brief history, etc.) - info about the party leader - five areas of the platform that your group thinks are most important and what they plan to do on those issues - local candidates from the party in North Vancouver and Burnaby North-Seymour ridings (Bloq groups will have to research independents). - there may be more that you want add. Careers: great discussion today based off of watching the highlights. Very happy to see so many had already checked out some of the debate. Science: rough copies of graphs are due Thursday. Question: what is the most surprising/interesting/unsuspected part of the debate in your opinion? Careers - You will need to write a paragraph that answers the question: From what you saw in the debate, who seems the most trustworthy of the candidates? Remember, to do a good job of this, you will need to reference at least one moment in the debate (make sure you note the time in the debate) that justifies your opinion. You may also want to more generally reference things like: - speaking voice - confidence of the presenter - body language -appearance -general ability to answer the questions directly I will post a video(s) of the debate as soon as they come available. The action begins about a minute and a half into the video. Please make sure you watch 15-20 minutes. We will discuss the debate in our next class so please watch before your next class. Science: Thanks to everyone for your help and patience with the experiment today on our 3rd attempt. I really appreciated the fact that despite it getting a little repetitive, you managed to stay with me. Keep in mind that there will be a post in the Science tab about this project and what to do with this information. Language Arts: Great job on the skits today everybody. It was a lot of fun getting to see you put some of your creativity to action in them. I was very impressed with what I saw and we will try do more in the near future. FSAs: We will be starting the FSAs tomorrow. October 3rd: Math: Pg 33-34 Q 1-8 are due on Monday Careers: We explored our understanding of media and how to spot fake news and images. We also began considering how images can be used to shape public opinion. And the choice of picking one image over another can be used to sway public opinion. See below for the class example. FSAs commenced today with the Reading section. Design Challenge: Students had some time after the FSAs to work on their design challenge projects. Three possible solutions and best possible solution is due for Monday. You will need to communicate with the people in your group to determine who will be bringing in what for supplies. Construction begins next week. Supplies should be here by Wednesday at the latest. Since so many people didn't post yesterday :( please add to the posts over the weekend.
